Fatal and serious injury data existed. What was missing was a shared spatial view: where people are being hurt, in what conditions, and where attention belongs.
The approach
Safety Atlas maps crash history across the Hot Springs metropolitan area. Filters for year, severity, and mode sit on the same records the map shows — so the conversation can start from the data, not from a slide.
Why it mattered
Safety programs stall when risk is abstract. A shared picture of place makes grant conversations, project selection, and public reporting possible.
